Hi There 2021!

Image
Hi there! So, I'm only ten days late. I meant to get this out earlier, but *shrugs* life happened. To be honest, the holidays exhausted this introvert and she kind of went into hibernation for a little.  Before I reveal any goals, let's see how I did for last year... Read 60 books? In 2020, I read about 84. Hurray for surpassing goals! Draw a hand without instructions? Nope. Better luck this year. Finish secret writing projects? Yes, and no. I did finish one, but it needs revision something fierce. I made a plan for it though, and it will happen. Continue writing poetry? Absolutely! It's been a good challenge and a good way to get the creative juices flowing. I've even had the odd event of waking up at 3:00 a.m. to write poetry about four days in a row.  Take any trips? Like to the grocery store? Yeah, it was 2020. That didn't happen. Maybe this year? Spent more time with friends? Over Zoom, yes. In person... not so much. Ye good ole lockdown kind of made that imp...

NaNoWriMo Wrap-up: Know the Novel: Part 3: It is Written

Image
Hello!  Gosh. I just realized that December 2020 is almost through and I haven't quite gotten around to this post yet, so here we are. This is the "Know the Novel" wrap-up post completing the link-up that I've participated in the past three months with Christine Smith . Since I've procrastinated long enough, I'm just going to dive into the post. Here we go. 1. Firstly, how did writing this novel go all around? A:   Writing went really well! I actually wrote more this past month than I have for the past three months, busy school schedule and all. Weird, but I think my brain likes the pressure of a deadline. 2. Did it turn out like you expected or completely different? And how do you feel about the outcome? A:  No... Of course not. My brain took my plot and ran amuck. It's been very inconsiderate. Yes. I had a plot. Shocking, I know.   Well, considering I still have about two to three chapters left, I feel pretty good about the outcome, but there are still...

Classics That Have Inspired Me

Image
Hello! This month I wanted to discuss something that I normally don't talk about: books! Okay, so I'm joking. But only halfway! My favorite genre to read in is fantasy, especially lesser known fantasy, but way back when I was a wee thing, I didn't have access to the internet which has broadened my reading field.  I grew up on classics and read them for school. One of my goals for this year is to revisit some of them and read some new ones.  Today, I want to share with you some classics I've read that have inspired my WIPs (Works-in-Progress). These aren't arranged in order from most inspiring to least. They're just numbered for my sake (because I like order and that sort of thing). Classic #1: Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle My entire childhood I had a friend who would badger me to read this book, but it wasn't until I was an adult and in desperate need of reading material that I took him seriously and checked out this massive book from my local l...

A Series of Updates, A Plethora of Goals

Image
Hi there!   I realized I haven't done a post with any updates or goals in a long time, so buckle up. This might be a lengthy one.    Tomorrow marks the 1st anniversary of Poetry 15th. Can't believe I started this little adventure a year ago. I love the challenge of coming up with a bit of poetry every month. Some months are harder than others, but then there are those months where the poem is tugging at my heartstrings and ready to be released into the wilds. I've read 41 out of 60 books for this year's Goodreads Challenge. Here are the ones I've read so far. For some of them, Goodreads doesn't show the cover.  Here are the books I'm currently reading: I apologize for the poor quality of these pictures. I nabbed them off of Goodreads.   I'm also reading Resistance  by Jaye L. Knight. For some reason, Goodreads didn't register it. I'll have to fix that.  Goals for this month: Finish Resistance. Start and finish Holes . (This is a Book Club boo...

NaNoWriMo Wrapup: Know the Novel: Part 3: It is Written

Image
Today I am wrapping up the writer's linkup I participated in the past two months with Christine Smith . Just a little note: while I finished NaNoWriMo, I did not finish the story. I'm still working on it, but I hoped to be finished by the end of this year. I just have a few more scenes to go. I will answer the following questions to the best of my ability. Q 1: Firstly, how did writing this novel go all around? A:  It was rough, I'm not going to lie. This novel has fought me every inch of the way and only now that I'm almost done has it been easier to write. Q 2: Did it turn out like you expected or completely different? And how do you feel about the outcome?  A: Well, considering it's not done yet, what I do have done has both turned out like I expected and it's also completely different. Confusing, I know. Q 3: What aspect of the story did you love writing about the most? (Characters, plot, setting, prose, etc.) A: Definitely the characters. E...
